The Plane Solution For A Short Break

By Angela Maithers

Getting away for a quick break is a great idea to escape and enable you to have something to look forward to. With the increase of low cost airlines offering inexpensive flights all over Britain and Europe more and more people are using the many deals available to get away.

Regrettably a number of the low cost flights do not always depart and arrive from the main airports so you can spend lots of time traveling to and from airports that are not near the destinations as you may thinks they are.

A possible solution to the low cost flights is to go on a rail break, which could provide you with a better and more convenient choice and in many events cheaper costs. A rail break traveling into London could work out cheaper and more convenient than you imagine. The train will get in the heart of London, which is where you want to be to give you access to all the popular attractions of central London. You will probably be able to get to your hotel by getting the underground therefore saving you cash on cabs.

There are lots of offers providing outstanding value travel and lodgings for the one cheap cost. You can select the London hotel of your choice and add-on a specially reduced priced rail ticket from as far away as Aberdeen.

Other options for a rail break may provide you with a city stay in Edinburgh departing from London. The advantage is not only in cost but the fact that you can travel from the middle of London and be in the center of Edinburgh without any extra inconvenience of having to travel to and from two other airports.

As usual there is always a price and convenience option to make. You could go from more convenient but costly flight from a closer airport. This is an ideal option if you can afford it but if you save cash you may be able to have two breaks instead of one. - 29948

All About Ibiza Town

By Belita Dejesusgarcia

The capital of Ibiza Island is Ibiza Town. It is the cultural and administrative capital of the island. There is a natural harbor in the town, and behind it are streets with restaurants, bars and boutique shopping. There are also many historic buildings.

The most famous historical area is Dalt Vila, which is a walled enclave that contains a Catalan cathedral, a Moorish cathedral. Dalt Vila overlooks the harbor. The New Town is to the west, and the New Harbor zone is in the north side of the bay.

Many people arrive at Ibiza Town from Formentera, and when they see Dalt Vila as they approach they realize that there are no similar Formentera properties. When they get off the boat they step onto the area known as La Marina, which is between the harbor waters and the walls of Dalt Vila. There is an area at the corner of La Marina called Passeig Maritim, and as you walk towards it you pass many bars and restaurants. You see a lot of club parades during the summer months, some of which a pretty risque.

After exploring La Marina it is well worth heading up to Dalt Vila to see its historical buildings up close. The fifteenth century Church of Esglesia de Sant Elm is well worth a look. It was burnt down quite a few times by Barbary pirates, and the current structure was built following a final attack on the building during the Spanish Civil War. It now stands at three storeys in height and even has a bell tower.

The next area you will come across is the Placa de sa Constitucio is a square of white washed old merchants houses. There is a market there known as Es Mercat Vell, which sells organic vegetables. Fruit and vegetables have been traded at the market since 1873.

Up from Placa de sa Constitucio is a triangle of streets which are the focal point for the gay community. These streets also have a high concentration of gypsies and can be a little dangerous at night so take care. The streets are known as Sa Penya.

If you make through Sa Penya you will come to Carrer de la Verge. This is a totally gay street, and is lined with gay bars, restaurants and clubs. If the gay scene is for you then you will not be disappointed by what is on offer. There is certainly nothing quite like it on the quieter island of Formentera. - 29948

You Can Still Afford A Summer Holiday In The Sun.

By Craig Walker

In a new survey it was shown that despite the current financial climate most individuals still desire to go on vacation. People were asked what they could remove from their household budget to save money and a vacation was one of the things most people least preferred to stop.

If you are considering about whether you can afford too go away on holiday then you could be surprised to discover that if you know what to look for you could easily get away for less than you think. There are a few easy steps that can help you save cash off your holiday or in fact in reality help you to be able to afford to go on vacation.

First of all you need to determine where you want to go and for most holidaymakers on a budget the response is usually somewhere hot and inexpensive. If you are simply looking to go away someplace warm and sunny then you should look at destinations like Turkey and Bulgaria.

In the summer Turkey and Bulgaria both get good weather and whilst you are there the cost of things is the most reasonable. This way you do not have to worry about the cost of drink and food whilst you are on holiday there. This can add a lot to a vacation budget especially if you go someplace and the cost of food and beverage is expensive.

If you do not want to go to someplace like Turkey or Bulgaria and opt for Spain or France for example you still can. Have a look for an all inclusive holiday where all your food and drink are included in the cost when you reserve the holiday and pay. This way you know that all you need is a little amount for trips or the odd evening meal out.

Many holiday firms are offering special discounts if you book early and this can help you save more off the vacation price. You would also have the benefit of knowing that you are all booked up and have something to look forward to. There are lots of cheap deposit deals on offer so reserving the right vacation now will cost less than it would regularly. - 29948

Why travel to Vienna?

By Jonathan Asher

One of Europe's most intriguing and historically rich cities, Vienna, sits in a central position that gives travelers easy access to Eastern and Western Europe. It is home to some truly awesome architectural design such as the gothic St. Stephen's Cathedral and the modern Haas House. Vienna and its surrounds have enough for you to do and see to occupy you for a few days or a few weeks.

The layout of Vienna may seem confusing but most of the main attractions are easy to discover as they are generally close to multi-named ring roads. These circular routes change every few degrees of the circle, making naming confusing. The Rathaus, the Museumsquartier and the Opera are all easy to find and attractions that are well worth visiting. The main train station, the Westbahnhof is on Mariahilfer Strasse, which features many hostels, shops and cheap places to eat.

Wiener schnitzel, sachertorte, strudels, sausages and kebabs are some of the best meals Vienna has to offer. You should be able to find all of these served up by street vendors or in cafes. Viennese style coffee is also said to be very unique and spending a few hours in a caf is encouraged as guests are made to feel a welcome as possible.

There are plenty of travel guides that will mention Vienna and the many attractions there that you might like to visit. Some notable attractions include the Schnbrunn Palace, The Vienna Opera House, Vienna's MUMOK and of course St. Stephen's Cathedral.

There are a number of travel guides that will go into detail about these locations as well as many others - Europe on a Shoestring (Lonely Planet Shoestring Guides) is a popular and well-worn travel guide but for more detail try The Rough Guide to Vienna - it's the most recently published mainstream Vienna travel guide. Also take a look at the Moleskine Vienna Notebook - it's a pocket-sized lined notebook with several pages of information about Vienna travel. - 29948

Travel from the UK to Marseille

By Tom Martens

The third largest city in France after Paris and Lyon, Marseille (sometimes spelled Marseilles in the UK) is rapidly becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Heathrow and Gatwick Airports in London serve the city with multiple departures every day. The city's main airport, Marseille Provence Airport, is the fourth most trafficked airport in the whole of France. Business travelers and tourists alike crowd its terminals. Once travelers disembark at the airport, they enjoy excellent local public transportation.

Marseille lies on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea on the southeast coast, the Cote-d-Azur, of France. It has the country's largest commercial port. The Old Port that fell into disuse after the'70s oil crises has been redeveloped into a bustling residential and tourist destination with assistance from the European Community.

The old port area is now home to restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels and other businesses and is primarily used as a private marina. The new port area is north of the old port area, and 100 million tons of freight passes through this port each year. The majority of the freight is petroleum. It is a major center for trade and industry with excellent transportation infrastructure, including its port, airport and roads. It is one of the main entry points into France, making it popular with immigrants, especially those from Italy, Spain and Greece.

With its location on the Mediterranean Sea, Marseille has mild winters and hot summers. The coldest months of the year are January and February, with July and August being the area's hottest months. Harsh, cold winds blow into the city from the Alps in the winter and spring.

The city also boasts Marseille Provence Metropolis, the second largest research center in France. The research center employs thousands of scientists.

In addition to industry, plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, museums and theaters can be found in the city. Culture lovers are especially enamored of Marseille due to the large number of theaters in the city, including la Cri?e, le Gymnase and the theatre Toursky. The Marseille Opera is also very popular, with a season from September to June.

Like every other region of France, but perhaps a little more so, Provence is known for its incredible food. Local favorites include pastis, a popular liqueur made with anise and spice, once made with the now-banned absinthe. Other local favorites are aioli (mayonnaise) served over hard boiled eggs or fish, tapenades over grilled meats, panisse, navette, and the flavorful boiling bouillabaisse. Restaurants make all their dishes with local ingredients chosen because they are intensely flavorful. Many of these establishments can be found in the previously mentioned Old Port area, also the site of a fish market. The Old Port area is beautiful after sundown, and a wonderful destination for a romantic evening, but entirely safe for UK visitors.

Beautiful architecture can also be found in the city, including the Abbey of Saint Victor, one of the oldest places of Christian worship in France, the Museum of Old Marseille and the Phare de Sainte Marie, a lighthouse on the inlet to the Old Port.

With all that the city has to offer to visitors, it is easy to see why Marseille is growing in popularity with travelers. - 29948

Overview of UK Flights to South America

By Graham McKenzie

South America is a large region in the South of the USA. There are some major countries that make up the continent include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Cayenne, Peru, Lima, Uruguay and more. Spanish and Portuguese are both largely spoken languages in South America, although French, Dutch and English are also spoken.

South America is a continent, which is rich in culture, and has influences from Portugal and Spain due to the connections of the regions with Europe. South America is also a wonderful destination due to its hot weather and good natured people; South American cuisines are mouth-watering and it offers several historical sights to explore.

There are plenty of flights to Latin America although in general, they are not cheap from the UK. Ways that you can make the flights cheaper is by avoiding the weekends especially Saturday for flying out, and try to take an indirect route (your operator will normally look these up for you). Airlines that fly to Latin America include Iberia Airlines. British Airways, Continental and Virgin Atlantic. Major locations to fly to include Mexico, Havana, San Jose, Quito, Rio, Sao Paolo and Santiago. There should be no problems entering the country with a valid UK passport. Some areas of Latin America are known to have problems especially for tourists so check before you go that the place you are visiting is safe.

The climate in South America varies greatly; on one hand there are a range of dry desert condition in Peru and Chile, but then there are also the humid and tropical weather conditions of the Amazon. The hottest weather is in Argentina's Gran Chacowere the weather can reach a staggering 44 degrees centigrade. When visiting most of Latin America you can expect sunny weather so remember to take your sun cream and protection as it can be scorchingly hot.

There are plenty of lively things to do in South America. In Venezuela visit Angel Falls, which is the world highest waterfall at 321 feet, it's fifteen times higher than Niagara Falls! You can take a raft upriver to view it from the bottom or take and expedition to see if from an alternative view. There is the Rio Carnival in Brazil which is known as one the biggest, brightest carnivals in the world.

This takes place every February but make early bookings as the flights are much sought after during this time. Various attractions like Corcovado Mountain and the excursions Sugar Loa Mountain Day Tour can be enjoy while you are in Rio. The excursion will let you explore the rain forest, and you can enjoy visiting the Christ the Redeemer statue, situated atop the mountain.

If you come to Chile, try trekking to an exciting wonder of the world, called the Machu Picchu, an Inca Ruin. The discovery of Incas was done in'00s but is now visited by people worldwide. Bring your camera along. South America is really charming, both its landscape and people. - 29948

Getting The Best Late Deal Vacation Offers

By Craig Wilson

When looking for a late deal holiday you need to make sure you are ready to book otherwise you could miss out on the best deals. There is not a lot worse than seeing an outstanding deal and by the time you get prepared to book the holiday it is no longer available.

First thing to do is to make sure you know all the times you can go on so that you do not have to keep checking with the individuals you are going with. Any postponement may cause you to miss out on the late deal you have got.

Make sure you all agree on what locations and resorts you are all willing to visit. If you have any special vacation requirements such as a property near the beach. In fact you also will need to determine whether you want to stay in an apartment or a hotel. The more you plan ahead the more likely you are able to reserve the best offer when you find it.

Will you only fly from a local airport or are you willing to go to an substitute airport if it saves you money. By traveling to another nearby airport you may save cash and have more choices with regard to destinations. Do not forget to add on the extra cost to get there and possibly car park your car for the duration of your holiday.

There are lots of possible elements you should know before reserving a holiday and it would be worthwhile for everyone going to meet up and sort this out before you start looking for a holiday.

If you are organized and ready you have more prospect of finding a deal as other people will not have. You can then just make a reservation knowing that you have all agreed earlier that the holiday is acceptable.

Another problem that could arise if you wait to long for a late offer is that the costs could go up once the vacation firms have sold sufficient seats on the aircraft. Certain destinations are more popular depending on the time of year so be ready to pay extra to go to Lanzarote in November than you would for Malta. Do not forget to make sure you have enough money on your credit card as late deals usually have to be fully paid at the time of booking. - 29948
