Choosing a Ski Holiday in Europe

By Craig Walker

A ski holiday in Europe is ideal as there are many areas where you can enjoy winter sports with truly exceptional ski conditions and terrain. For a long time the only ski destinations were Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy and Andorra. But today you can find great skiing where ever you find snow.

France is a popular ski holiday destination as it has the French Alps and is also close proximity to the UK. Additionally France has the largest lift and piste system in the world. There are many ski chalets found in France including some of the world's best; Meribel, Tignes, Courchevel, Val D'Iseres, Alpe D'Huezs and Chamonix.

Austria is the second most popular ski holiday destination, mainly due to its picturesque scenery and excellence in service and quality. You will be able to find a resort for all ski levels. Austria offers world class skiing and fantastic apr?s skiing.

Some of the most difficult skiing in the world can be found in Switzerland. The Swiss Alps has the toughest and highest ski runs in the world. Swiss ski chalets were built around existing towns so there is a lot of culture to experience as well as skiing, something that French ski chalets may lack. Besides the very advanced ski trails there are some chalets designer for the intermediate skier.

Italian has some excellent ski areas, in the Alps and Dolomites in northern Italy. Italian skiing is also less expensive than skiing in Switzerland, France and Austria. Italy is ideal for the beginning or less confident skier and also has the most amount of ski runs found in Europe. The Italian ski resorts are both modern and traditional at the same time, promising a not to be missed skiing experience. - 29948
