A Mini Formentera Article

By Tom Binns

Formentera is the smallest Balearic Island it's 13 miles long, 35 miles squared, and is home to around seven thousand people. It's by far one of the most beautiful places on earth. Set against a sky blue back drop it's dusty little roads meander to some of the most amazing beaches you will ever see.

Formentera is only a stone throw away from Ibiza, but the white beaches and the turquoise sea give you this relaxed magic Caribbean feeling. It's like being in another world. A world where you can get away from the madness that can sometimes consume Ibiza.

Formentera is mostly flat and small in size and its never far between towns and beaches. The best way to get around the island is by moped. There's no better way to travel down it's dusty lanes. The best way to get there is by chartering a boat and then you arrive at Formenteras best bits - it's white sandy beaches that stretch for miles.

Formentera is well known for its fresh seafood with grilled fish and local fish stews being perennial favorites. Although don't be fooled a lot of sea food is actually imported from Scotland! The sea food restaurants on the beach can be very expensive.

If you've never been to this beautiful island you must go the pictures don't do it justice. It has beautiful beaches and clear water as well as spectacular inland scenery. The weather is fine most of the year. I'd recommend you go between May and October and stay clear of August.

Finally I would recommend that you go and see the island by boat. They are cheaper than you think and there are many options to choose from. Just ask one of the search engines. - 29948
